On the occasion of World Tourism Day, Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN) along other tourism associations is organizing a hiking program from Kakani to Suryachaur on September 25. TAAN has been organizing various activities to celebrate the day with the slogan provided by UNWTO. World Tourism Day 2018 is being celebrated throughout the country with the slogan “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”. The Chief Guest of the event will be Honb’l Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Mr. Rabindra Adhikari.
The hike will start from Kakani Memorial Park and end at Suryachaur Hill passing through Shivapuri National Park. Suryachaur, situated at an altitude of 1925 meter in the Northern part of Kathmandu valley, is the short and easy hike of 10 kilometers (2-3) hours. Suryachaur is an ideal place with some flat terrains from where one can get to see the whole Thangshing Valley and the great mountain views like Ganesh Himal, Langtang Range, Mt. Machapuchare, Mt. Gaurishankar, Godatape, Rauchuli and other numerous Himalayas.
Suryachaur hiking is a relaxing travel adventure for travelers who want to dive in nature and run away from urban cities. The place is likewise home of a memorial park of diverse natural vegetation of Himalayan flora and fauna. Suryachaur hiking is well known for its amazing landscape and the green mountains encompassed by Himalaya panorama. It is also one of the famous bird watching sites around Kathmandu valley, which records over 170 species of the birds. It is one of the best hiking destinations while looking for a short trek around Kathmandu valley for domestic as well as international tourist.
The hiking program on the day of World Tourism will be a step towards promotion of new hiking destination. Suryachaur being one of the best view point from where one can see the panoramic view of Himalayas. Celebrating world tourism day by going outdoors and experiencing nature through exploring and experiencing wilderness so nature/ wilderness can always be unfathomable and divine.
Honb’l Secretary of MoCTCA Krishna Prashad Devkota, Tourism Associates, Diplomats, Celebrities and Media will be the part of hiking program to celebrate world tourism day.
TAAN recce team led by Coordinator of Trekking Trail Maintenance and Monitoring Department Mr. Baburam Gurung along with Treasurer Ram Krishna Timalsina, Sports and Event Management Coordinator Ritu Gyamdan, Media Coordinator Gopal Shrestha, Culture, Art & Language Conservation Department Coordinator Mahesh Kumar Buda and Media Officer Subina Manandhar visited and monitored the hiking route on September 19.
